Steering knuckle

The steering knuckle, also known as the "horn", is one of the important parts in the steering axle of the car, which can make the car run stably and sensitively transmit the direction of travel. The function of the steering knuckle is to transmit and bear the front load of the car, support and drive the front wheel to rotate around the king pin to turn the car. In the driving state of the car, it is subjected to variable impact loads, so it is required to have high strength.

The steering knuckle is a hinge for turning the wheels of auto parts, generally in the shape of a fork. The upper and lower forks have two coaxial holes for installing the king pin, and the steering knuckle journal is used to install the wheel. The two lugs of the pin hole on the steering knuckle are connected with the fist-shaped parts at both ends of the front axle through the king pin, so that the front wheel can deflect a certain angle around the king pin to turn the car. In order to reduce wear, a bronze bushing is pressed into the steering knuckle pin hole, and the bushing is lubricated by the grease nipple installed on the steering knuckle. In order to make the steering flexible, a bearing is installed between the lower ear of the steering knuckle and the fist-shaped part of the front axle. An adjustment pad is also installed between the upper ear of the steering knuckle and the fist-shaped part to adjust the gap therebetween.

In order to maintain the stability of the car's straight-line driving, the lightness of the steering and reduce the wear between the tires and the parts, the steering wheel, the steering knuckle and the front axle must maintain a certain relative position with the frame. The relative position of the installation is called steering wheel positioning, also known as front wheel positioning. The correct front wheel positioning should be as follows: the car can drive in a straight line stably without swinging; the force on the steering wheel is not large when steering; the steering wheel has an automatic correction function after steering; there is no slip between the tire and the ground to reduce fuel consumption, Extend the service life of tires. The front wheel positioning includes kingpin backward tilt, kingpin inward tilt, front wheel camber and front wheel toe.
